UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
InvitationWe invite you to become a part of one of the largest worldwide organizations for women - The United Methodist Women. Manasquan United Methodist Women is a dedicated group working to help others in our community, across the nation, and throughout the world. Join us for fellowship, excellent discussions, and service projects as we learn about ourselves, our world, and our God.
UMW PurposeThe organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Who are we?United Methodist Women includes ALL women committed to mission. We are women of all ages from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are employed, retired, stay-at-home Moms, and business owners. We are single, married, divorced, and widowed. Diversity in membership helps us grow into a unit that reflects the purpose of United Methodist Women.
Organization of our Local UnitThere is a general meeting for all members on the third Thursday of the month at 12:00 noon. This is a time for learning, spiritual growth, special programs, and fellowship. Bring a bag lunch. Desert and beverages will be provided. We do not meet during the months of February, July, August, or November. Our executive board meets on the second Thursday of the month.
At present we are in need of a leader or co-leaders for an evening circle in order to accommodate those who are unable to attend meetings during the day. Please let us know if you are able to help in this area.
Why Join UMW?Women join to grow spiritually, educationally, and intellectually; to gain leadership experience, to meet other women, and to become involved in mission. If you want to become a members, please contact the church office.
Our MissionsThere are several opportunities throughout the year to participate in mission projects. Our biggest fund raisers are the Village Fair in November and our rummage sales. We donate approximately $13,000 a year toward various mission projects. Some of these are: Pledge to Missions, William T. Norris Scholarship Fund, The Neighborhood Center in Camden, New Jersey, Vacation Bible School, Sunday Nursery Care, and the Upper Room daily devotional guide.
